— Getting here —

Getting to La Fortuna.

From your local host & photographer, Julio Carvajal — the same practical opening you'll find in our field guide Beyond The Volcano, waiting for you at the cabin.

Option 01

Auto · Car

~2h 30 · SJO → Route 1 → Route 702

From San José's Juan Santamaría International (SJO), take Route 1 toward San Ramón, then Route 702 through La Tigra to La Fortuna. About two and a half hours, one of the most scenic approaches to Arenal.

A 4×4 isn't a must, but it gives you peace of mind on the gravel roads.

Option 02

Avión · Plane

Short domestic flight

Short flights to La Fortuna / Arenal are available with SANSA. A great option if you'd rather skip the drive and land minutes from your stay.

Option 03

Bus

~4 h · Terminal 7-10, San José

Direct Transpisa bus from Terminal 7-10 in San José. About four hours. The most affordable route, and locals take it too.
